We are back in BK. This past weekend I was alone for the first time in over a month. I think that’s when you know you’re in the right place. For the past couple of years, I didn’t feel like I was going home when I landed at LAX (LAX it may or may not be the worst invention of the past decade). While I can’t say Newark feels homey, I couldn’t wait for my morning walk on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, Poppy’s pistachio capp in hand, strolling by my favorite 48 Willow Street, down past my new favorite bakery Laurel and by Juice Generation to pick up my trusty green genes. Routine is really what feels the best about being home. The friends and community too :). September is January in my eyes. We’ve just literally had zero routine for three months. A mf reset is needed.
Below are my early September favorites. Text me yours xoxo
Summer colors — It’s not over yet. LA is literally 105 degrees right now and NY is 80, so stop crying about fall. Keep summer going by literally just dressing like it.
Coconut chia pudding — I started this phase in LA. I personally think the Erewhon chia pudding is a top 3 Erewhon purchase. It’s a cloud. Perelanda is a friendlier and more unassuming version of Erewhon nestled in Brooklyn Heights. And their chia pudding is $5.99. Thank me later. The consistency is so perfect.
Morning walk/run instead of workout classes — I decreased my ClassPass this September to enjoy the brisk mornings. I don’t know what has come over me lately, but I’ve been craving running? Idk but going with it. P.S. would love playlist recs. I’ve been blasting American Oxygen on repeat.
Fierce Grace — The only workout class I will travel for. You legitimately feel like a new human after this class. Warning if you don’t like it hot. It’s over 100 degrees. Trust me though, it’s life-changing. Most of their instructors also have an accent.
Suede suit shorts — Suede is on everyone’s radar. But are suede shorts? Keyword search “vintage suede suit shorts” on eBay and have some fun. I’m loving these and also these.
Dumbo market hot bar — Lowkey is the best lunch deal in the area. Hot bars do freak me out slightly, but this one is well-kept. They have an olive selection of your dreams, freshly cooked salmon, and solid veggies. If you snack while you fill, you have a little lunch protein bowl for like $6.
Yuzu soda — It would be annoying to say sober September, but that’s sort of my vibe post-summer. We need some de-puff energy. I’ve been loving this one. It’s refreshing, sweet enough, and doesn’t have any stevia vibes.
Lace hair pieces — Obsessed. You can find them anywhere. As I said, we’re moving into coats being the whole look, so you have to start accessorizing the head, hands, and feet more.
Hope everyone is having a great back 2 skewl.
xoxo
